We have created Python libraries and examples that can be run on Linux based computers that have BLE (Bluetooth 4.0) hardware such as a cheap USB dongle.
The Python libraries depend on the bluez bluetooth stack. For setting up and touch testing your USB Bluetooth LE dongle please read this post.
This has been tested using Ubuntu 14.04 in a VM (on Max) and using Raspbian on a Raspberry Pi using the same 'Pluggable' brand BLE USB dongle.
The simplest example is the simpleLogListener.
When a sketch on the bot uses radio_debug() function, the message sent from the sketch will be printed to the console in which the python script is running.
